GENERATOR RESTORING
First thing to do is getting over to the local speedshop
and see what they have on the shelves.
Here got some new stuff for our generator.
Fields rotor bearings and brushes
that should cover most of the renovating.
Now we can start on the dismantling
The rear end and the housing is off
so put armature in the vise and loosen
front nut
and here is the pulley and front end
pulled off the armature
Bits n' peices on the workbench
lets start to clean and put it together
 Armatures/rotors
When you ansembly the generator
make shure that you get the right rotor.
Check the number and size of the old one
and compare with the new one.
Some of these generators has been
restored 5 maybe 10 times and dont have the
parts they supposed to have refered to
housing number.
Commutor end or rear end plate
Check for bad insulating on the positive
brush holder and pull out the old bushing.
Drive end or front end plate
Remove the snapring that holds the bearing
and then gently knock it out.
 Remove poleshoes and field coils
from the housing
And here you have them on the bench
clean the house and poleshoes in solvent
then spray the house with paint
Here is the rear end sandblasted
and waiting for the bushing and
new brushes
Press in a new bearing in the front end
And put the snapring back in its groove
then set the rotor in the vise and slide on
the front end and pulley.
finish by tighten the nut to desired torq.
New 12 volts fields goes in to the housing
Connect the wires like the old ones
and make sure you have insulating on the right place
And then when you have put the housing and rear end on
it should look something like this.
 The moment of truth........
Will it charge
Hook up both generator and regulator.
have the lid of the regulator for easy adjustment
Depending of what readings you get
there might be some adjustment on the
tounges in the regulator
Also check the generator for noises
When you have the right readings
put on the cover and check again
it usually drops down a few points
when the cover is on
Hm blurry photo but the reading say something like
14.0-14.4 volts and 5-10 amps unloaded.
Good take it out of the bench and in to the.......

 Car..wrench it in place, make
sure you have the right belt tension
and connect the cables at the right terminals
Jepp ..in with the regulator connect the cables at the
right terminals, and start up the engine
